Please join us for the opening of An Artist's Life: Paintings by Robert Stebleton on Thur. Nov. 9 from 5:30 - 7pm. The exhibition will (See more) be on view at City Hall through January 10, 2018.

Robert Stebleton was living in the Midwest where he found motivation and inspiration in the countryside around him and painted landscapes with centennial farms, old wagons and abandoned cars and trucks in back fields. Influenced by American masters of art such as Andrew Wyeth, Emile Gruppe and Don Stone. At 35 years old, he moved to coastal Maine and fell in love with the ocean and the people who earned their living from the sea. He's lived in Florida now for many years and his work reflects a combination of his life experiences. Stebleton's pallet of somber earth tones, now has the lush tropical colors of a life well-lived.

The Ocala City Hall show, "An Artist's Life: Paintings by Robert Stebleton" reflects Stebleton's lifelong pursuit of discovering beauty in the commonplace things in our lives. There's a variety of subjects in this exhibit, but the thread that ties it together is more than his style, but also a desire to share his vision with the viewer. Stebleton's paintings are all portraits whether they're hundred-year-old mason jars that held jellies lovingly prepared by gnarled hands, the antique silverware of a once youthful bride or white pelicans swimming leisurely at a local park. Viewers will go away with an increased appreciation for the road less traveled.

"The paintings by Robert Stebleton convey a simpler time on the back roads of America. With his keen power of observation, he captures the subtle nuances of his subject..." Marjory Young, Enquirer & News, Battle Creek, Michigan
