HORSE FEVER
Catch the Fever!

This is the inescapable slogan of an art project that cpatured the imagination o a community, riding a year-long media storm to international notoriety and raising over $1.2 million dollars for charity.

In 2001, perseverance met opportunity when Marion Cultural Alliance, a not-for-profit dedicated to raising awareness for the arts, took a bold step for a small town such as Ocala, Florida. They produced this lucky and exciting herd of 53 life-sized horses that met a public eager to absorb the beauty and intrigue of these vibrant designs-as varied as the community that they have come to represent.

The key elements in the success of this project, in addition to the visually dynamic artwork, were the publicity and promotion that began in May of 2001 that carries through to this day. Sponsored in part by the Ocala Star Banner and Ocala Style Magazine, Horse Fever remains in the forefront of the community, with over 18 months in print, and numerous television features in the Central Florida Market.
