Blooming at the Brick, 2006

Marion Cultural Alliance, Inc., officials opens its new home, Brick City Center for the Arts, with “Blooming at the Brick,” a collection of works celebrating The Flower.

This collection of more than 30 new, original works marks the official re-opening of Brick City Center for the Arts, 23 SW Broadway St., Ocala. Brick City Center for the Arts was formerly operated by Central Florida Community College. While the college focuses its attentions on the Appleton Museum and Webber Center, MCA has agreed to a long-term lease with the city for operations of Brick City, a beloved by artists and art lovers.

There will be an artist’s reception for the show on Friday, May 12, at 6 p.m. The collection of works will be exhibited through June 24. Brick City Center for the Arts is currently open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Following the reception, artists and visitors are invited to spend time on the downtown square where the City of Ocala will be sponsoring “The Goodtime Jazz band” until 9 p.m. Artists who would like to capture the scene are invited to bring their easels and paint.
